The autopilot mode we've heard of previously has now been officially called 'Super Guide'. This is where the cpu takes control of your character for you in order to get you past hard parts of the game. Super Guide is set to appear in New Super Mario Bros and potentially other games made by Nintendo too.
Although deemed by some as a "dumbing down", Big N refutes this, claiming it will actually allow them to ramp up the difficulty levels without having to worry about inexperienced gamers getting stuck. Super Guide becomes available after you've died eight times, and can be activated using a green block. When this happens, Mario transforms into Luigi and the cpu takes over. Control can be gotten back at any time with the press of a button.
Speaking of New Super Mario Bros Wii, here's some gameplay footage from PAX:
New info from the game has also been released. Similar to the DS game, there will be 8 worlds with pathways that branch out. The storyline involves the age old practise of rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser, didn't see that one coming.
Multiplayer modes include co-op, free for all and coin battles.
