New Luigi's Mansion game?

New Luigis Mansion game?

A long time ago there was a rumor to do with a Luigi's Mansion sequel coming to Wii. After a while it was deemed false, but now Nintendo has filed a new trademark with the USPTO for "Luigi's Mansion" - leading to more speculation.

This could potentially mean a sequel is in the works, but less exciting, and probably more likely, it will mean a "New Play Control" game. That being, the original Luigi's Mansion but updated to use the Wiimote.

Zelda Wii rumors

Zelda Wii rumors

A whole host of rumors concerning the next Zelda title on Wii have surfaced. These rumors come from a Japanese message board called 2chan, which apparently has a good track record in foreseeing these things.

The game will be vary from the dungeon - field - dungeon method we are accustomed to.You will be able to select right or left handed at the start, and Link will use the hand based on your selection. The gameplay and basic mechanics are all complete. They are currently polishing up the story and characters. One of the characters they are working on is an innkeeper in Link's home village who has a son that looks up to Link. The girl in the art is not the Master Sword, and it appears the Master Sword will not be in the game. The girl's name from the painting could possibly be Adelle, Adella, or Aderu. She is not with you throughout the game like Ezlo and Midna. The face in the painting of her is not her real face. It's not fully elaborated on much, but it does say that it was a placeholder concept piece of art.Link's sword is highly unique in this game, and will have several unlockable abilities. Adelle (or whatever her final name becomes) communicates with you through this sword. There will be horseback combat. Epona will avoid obstacles automatically. The models for 3 significant characters in the game have been touched up, but no they are not Zelda or Ganondorf. The idea of this version of Link also being The Hero of Time has been highly considered, and may already be implemented.Time travel plays a role in the game. The game takes place in more than just Hyrule, and may possibly not be Hyrule at all.

Nintendo's Glory Of Heracles Delivers Heroes From A To Zeus

For centuries, the mighty heroes and wondrous tales of ancient Greek mythology have mesmerized children and adults around the globe. Now, with the Jan. 18 launch of Nintendo's Glory of Heracle s, U.S. consumers can encounter these legendary characters and fantastical settings in a new video game for the hand-held Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems. Already popular in Japan, Glory of Heracles marks the North American debut of an engaging, action-filled series that packs boundless appeal for core gamers and casual players alike.

Glory of Heracles immerses players in a rich role-playing adventure written by Kazushige Nojima, known to gaming fans as one of the creative minds behind classic games such as FINAL FANTASY VII and the original Kingdom Hearts. Combining original storylines with familiar characters and scenarios from Greek mythology, Glory of Heracles invites players to assume the role of a noble hero who washes up on the shores of ancient Crete with no memory of who he is or how he got there. To restore his memory, players must roam the countryside in search of clues, obtain powers from the great gods and battle a slew of monsters and villains along the way. Historic locations such as Athens and Sparta are among the dazzling 3-D environments players can explore as they interact with fascinating characters and work to recover the hero's identity.

"There are many gamers who view role-playing games as the ultimate genre," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "And in Glory of Heracles, they're going to find a new world, a mix of memorable characters, imaginative storytelling and epic battles. New gamers will also find that this title is a great way to get acquainted with RPGs."

Available exclusively for the portable Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems, Glory of Heracles lets players choose between the stylus or the control pad and buttons to control the heroic protagonist's movements. The game's turn-based adventure is enhanced by an extensive glossary that provides background details on a wealth of characters and locations. Players can also complete optional mini-game challenges on the touch screen to help power up for intense battles.

Movies, TV episodes streamed instantly from Netflix headed to Nintendo's Wii console this spring

REDMOND, Wash., and LOS GATOS, Calif., Jan. 13, 2010 – Nintendo of America Inc. and Netflix, Inc. [Nasdaq: NFLX] today announced an agreement that will allow Netflix members who are also owners of Nintendo’s Wii™ home console to instantly watch thousands of movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix directly to their TVs. Netflix is scheduled to go live on the Wii console this spring in the United States at no additional cost to Netflix members who have a plan starting at $8.99 a month, a Wii console and a broadband Internet connection.

The partnership between the two companies will extend the reach of content streamed from Netflix farther than ever before, thanks to the mainstream popularity of the Wii console. Wii remains the fastest-selling home console in history, and reaches more consumers than any other device that currently supports streaming movies from Netflix. In December 2009, Nintendo sold well in excess of 3 million Wii consoles in the United States. Wii is the top-selling home video game system of this generation, and as such brings the Netflix experience to a broad and diverse mass market.

"Our research shows that 86 percent of all U.S. Wii consoles are located in the living room," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "The Wii console is the social hub around which friends and family members gather to play games and have fun. Soon both new and longtime Wii owners will enjoy the benefits of Netflix – and a variety of informational and entertainment options – by being Netflix members and connecting their consoles to the Internet."

"Our goal is to offer Netflix members as many ways as possible to watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix right to their TVs and to give non-members more and compelling reasons to consider the service," said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings. "Joining forces with Nintendo, which has been so immensely popular with consumers since its introduction, is a very meaningful step in that direction."

With 11.1 million U.S. subscribers as of Sept. 30, 2009, Netflix continues to expand the ways in which its members can watch movies and TV shows streamed directly to TVs via a range of Netflix-ready devices such as the Wii console. Netflix memberships start as low as $8.99 a month, and members also can receive unlimited DVDs delivered quickly to their homes. At the same time, consumers continue to demonstrate a preference for Wii consoles, which offer tremendous value, whether measured in fun games, shared experiences or the suggested retail price of just $199.99.

To enable their systems to stream content from Netflix, Wii owners will need a Netflix instant-streaming disc for the Wii console, which will be available at no additional cost to Netflix subscribers. The free disc looks and operates the same as a disc-based Wii game, and the entire user experience will feel natural and intuitive to Wii console owners. Netflix members and Wii console owners can now reserve a free instant-streaming disc by going to www.netflix.com/Wii. Once available in the spring, the discs will be delivered for free by first-class mail.

When the instant-streaming disc is inserted into a member's Wii system, an array of movie and TV choices will be displayed right on their TV screen. These titles will be conveniently organized into a variety of categories based on members' personal preferences and will include popular genres, new arrivals and members' individual instant Queues. Using the Wii Remote™ controller, members will be able to choose a movie or TV episode to watch from their instant Queues or pick one directly from any of the lists. They will also have the ability to read synopses and rate movies, and will have the option of fast-forwarding and rewinding their selection.

Netflix adds another dimension to the Wii console’s diverse online features, which range from downloadable new and classic games in the Wii Shop Channel, to online multiplayer gaming with games like Mario Kart™ Wii, to video highlights and information about titles for the Wii and Nintendo DS™ systems via the Nintendo Channel™.

Greenpeace still not lovin Nintendo

The annual Greenpeace electronics report is out, gaming giants Nintendo have failed to impress again. They scored a shoddy 1.4 out of 10, the lowest of all companies tested.

Many of the worst faults came under the "E-Waste" and "Energy Emissions" categories. Microsoft didn't fare much better with a score of 2.4. A rare instance where Sony looks relatively good, they managed a rating of 5.1.

A New Decade Brings Seven New Downloadable Nintendo Games

Should old acquaintance be forgot? We can't remember. But what we can remember is that this week's downloadable lineup from Nintendo asks a lot of questions. The Nintendo DSiWare service wonders if you can master missiles with Trajectile, lead animals to their proper pens with Animal Puzzle Adventure or match wits with TV chef Gordon Ramsay in Hell's Kitchen Vs. The WiiWare service puts you in charge of maximizing your rubber duckie output with Heron: Steam Machine, asks you to aim for the bull's-eye with Pub Darts and wonders if you have an itchy trigger finger with Fast Draw Showdown. Finally, Final Fight 3 on the Virtual Console service makes you wonder if the fight is ever really final.

Nintendo DSiWare
Trajectile
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 500 Nintendo DSi Points
Description: Trajectile is a puzzle game that's as much about firepower as it is about brainpower, requiring you to line up your shot and launch a flurry of missiles at enemy targets. Three types of missiles are at your disposal, each one with its own characteristics - but all of them can bounce off walls on their path to smash, blast or drill through enemies and blocks. Along the way, you'll find item blocks just waiting to be destroyed so that you can obtain special power-ups ... and cause even more destruction. Be careful though, as missile type and position are predetermined and you get only a limited number of launches per stage. Complete multiple classes containing numerous individual stages, earning medals when you clear stages in fewer than the given number of turns. Are you ready to take aim at becoming a Trajectile master?

Animal Puzzle Adventure
Publisher: Aksys Games
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E10+ (Everyone 10 and Older) - Mild Suggestive Themes
Price: 500 Nintendo DSi Points
Description: Animal Puzzle Adventure is a simple puzzle game where you have to lead various animals to their respective barns placed on the map, while avoiding pitfalls and cliffs and using the objects on the field to your advantage. There are 10 stages per level with a total of five levels, creating 50 stages in all. After clearing a stage, you unlock a piece of a photo. Once you clear all 10 stages in a level, the wallpaper for that level becomes unlocked and you can then view it in the gallery. With so many puzzles to unravel, you'll find yourself immersed in the puzzle-riffic world of Animal Puzzle Adventure.

Hell's Kitchen Vs.
Publisher: Ludia
Players: 1-2
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 800 Nintendo DSi Points
Description: Hell's Kitchen Vs. is based on the U.S. TV phenomenon where world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay puts aspiring chefs through rigorous culinary tests. The game recreates the show's pressure-cooker atmosphere as two players battle head-to-head in an arcade-style kitchen challenge. Try to conquer your opponent in each time-management test, while taking the heat of Gordon Ramsay judging and rating your performance at every stage of the game.

WiiWare
Heron: Steam Machine
Publisher: Triangle Studios
Players: 1-4
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 500 Wii Points
Description: Heron: Steam Machine is a game about a factory where rubber duckies are being produced by a large steam engine. On this steam engine, there are four different gauges which you will have to watch carefully. By connecting the pipes, you will earn points and relieve some of the pressure, keeping the machine running just a little bit longer. If one of the gauges reaches its maximum, the machine will eventually blow up, and the game is over. If you were lucky enough to achieve a high score, make sure you enter your name in the list so other players can compete with you. In Multiplayer, you are able to cooperate with friends in maintaining the steam machine. When you play with two, three or four players, the screen is divided into sections with different background colors. Each player is able to solve his or her own part of the puzzle. Players are restricted to their own section of the screen, so you will have to work together to make the pipes fit properly. (Additional accessories are required for multiplayer play and are sold separately.)

Pub Darts
Publisher: Big Blue Bubble Inc.
Players: 1-4
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) - Alcohol Reference
Price: 500 Wii Points

Controls function just like throwing a real dart. Players are able to create their own personal profiles, including selecting their avatar image from a collection of creative characters and the design they would like displayed on the dart flights.

Fast Draw Showdown

Players: 1-2
ESRB Rating: T (Teen) - Alcohol Reference, Violence

You'll go up against the best quick draws in the business, including one of the world's fastest, Wes Flowers. Unholster your Wii Remote controller and show 'em who the fastest draw really is, in this live-action shooter. You can even take on a friend in multiplayer modes, and see which of you has the quickest draw. NBA Jam exclusive to Wii

NBA Jam exclusive to Wii

A blog entry on the ESPN site says that EA has acquired the rights to make a new NBA Jam game, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii platform.

For those too young to remember, NBA Jam was a 2v2 basketball game first developed by Midway in 1993. An arcade-style game at heart, it featured exaggerated gameplay mechanics and effects for slam dunks, e.g. flames - resulting in the commentator shouting "He's on fire!".

NBA Jam was a huge hit back in the day and spawned many sequels, can a Wii version achieve the same success?
