Gravitronix hints

Gravitronix hints

Medaverse Studios, the developers of WiiWare's Gravitronix have sent out some useful strategies helping players get on the fast track to success in the game.

Flint and Tinder

Quite possibly the most risky but enjoyable technique to pull off in Gravitronix, the "flint and tinder" involves charging a cube, pushing it at an opponent's territory and then detonating the cube with a second projectile before they can capture the cube (which would neutralize the explosive charge) or detonate it themselves.

This is an INCREDIBLY risky maneuver as a wary enemy player or stray projectile could detonate the cube before it leaves your territory, but if timed correctly, it is one of the most devastating attacks in the game and can damage an entire shield wall of an opponent in a quarter territory.

Nudging

Your gravity platform will move slower while it's carrying a captured projectile, but that doesn't mean you can't make use of the captured projectile as either a shield or to push a projectile into an adjacent territory.

While nudging, be careful that a projectile doesn't get stuck between your captured projectile and your shield pieces. The result will be disastrous.

V-Shots

A "V-Shot" is done by capturing a projectile, waiting until another projectile is incoming (a non-cube) and then quickly firing the first projectile at an opponent and then hitting the 2nd projectile at them with the repel beam.

I wouldn't recommend this one until you're comfortable with the control scheme, as it's easy to mess up and get hit by the incoming projectile or, if one of the projectiles is charged, have them collide and detonate near your shield pieces.

Nintendo's demo mode named Super Guide

The autopilot mode we've heard of previously has now been officially called 'Super Guide'. This is where the cpu takes control of your character for you in order to get you past hard parts of the game. Super Guide is set to appear in New Super Mario Bros and potentially other games made by Nintendo too.

Although deemed by some as a "dumbing down", Big N refutes this, claiming it will actually allow them to ramp up the difficulty levels without having to worry about inexperienced gamers getting stuck. Super Guide becomes available after you've died eight times, and can be activated using a green block. When this happens, Mario transforms into Luigi and the cpu takes over. Control can be gotten back at any time with the press of a button.

Speaking of New Super Mario Bros Wii, here's some gameplay footage from PAX:

New info from the game has also been released. Similar to the DS game, there will be 8 worlds with pathways that branch out. The storyline involves the age old practise of rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser, didn't see that one coming.

Multiplayer modes include co-op, free for all and coin battles.

Nintendo's Wii Fit Plus Takes Fun and Fitness to the Next Level

Because no two people are exactly alike, shouldn't each person's fitness routine be just as unique? With the Oct. 4 launch of Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo introduces a revolutionary way for consumers to create their own customized workout, delivering new levels of personalization, convenience and enjoyment to at-home fitness. Designed exclusively for the top-selling Wii console, Wii Fit Plus invites all members of the household to make individualized workout routines according to their own unique schedules, activity preferences and fitness goals. For people of any age, background or lifestyle, Wii Fit Plus helps take the "work" out of your workout.

Experienced users and newcomers alike will look forward to every Wii Fit Plus session, thanks to a host of new features and enhancements. In addition to all of the original Wii Fit aerobic, yoga, strength training and balance activities, Wii Fit Plus features more than 20 new activities to step up the fun, including skateboarding and a Segway course. To suit each user's schedule, workouts can be set to any duration in five-minute intervals up to an hour, and users can choose from specialized routines that focus on specific fitness goals or target areas. Also, players can now see an estimated amount of calories burned during each workout while tracking their overall progress. Another new feature even incorporates animals by letting players track their pets' weight and create custom Mii characters for them.

"As the fast pace of the holiday season kicks in, Wii Fit Plus delivers an unbeatable at-home fitness option," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Whether people have specific fitness goals or just want a fun way to stay active, they can create a personalized, productive workout routine that they'll actually look forward to each day."

Wii Fit Plus makes use of the innovative Wii Balance Board accessory, an easy-to-use device that detects players' movements as they enjoy games like Obstacle Course and Perfect 10. Nintendo fixing bricked Wiis after firmware 4.2

Nintendo fixing bricked Wiis after firmware 4.2

After the recent 4.2 firmware update tackling Homebrew, a number of innocent bystanders found that their Wii consoles no longer worked. Nintendo has put out a statement advising these gamers to contact their customer service departments.

We are aware of a very small number of reported problems with Wii consoles after updating to the Wii System Menu 4.2.

The symptoms described usually occur when a Wii console has been modified. However, there are a very small number of people reporting problems when a system has never been modified.

If anyone is experiencing problems with their Wii console after downloading Wii System Menu 4.2, and believe their system has not been modified, please contact our customer service center. If we find that you have a normal system and the update has caused your system to not work, we will repair it at no charge.

Please do not return anything to our customer service department without contacting them first for advice.

I still haven't updated mine, maybe I'll wait for 4.3.
